What You Missed at ASISU

January 11, 2012

On Wednesday, Jan. 11 the ASISU convened their first Student Senate meeting of the spring semester. Their agenda covered the usual items, such as approval of the last meeting’s minutes and the meeting’s agenda. Shaun Stokes, the ASISU President, presented his report. Stokes reported that the construction at the SUB was going well and that the grand opening is slated for Feb. 20, that a smoke free committee was being organized, that faculty governance is going well and that Colonial Hall, which is across the street from the Physical Science building is being closed due to structural issues. The Director of the Student Activities Board and programmers appeared before the Senate and advised them of a new incentive they were doing in order to help recruit volunteers for their activities. The new elections format was shown and demonstrated. David Alexander, Alicia Tauscher and Ben Harker have been working together to insure that voting this year is a lot more accessible and hassle-free. ASISU Student Senate meets every Wednesday night in the Salmon River Suite of the PSUB at 7 p.m. All students are encouraged to attend.
