The last ASISU Senate meeting for the month of February covered concerns, complaints, club financing proposals and different achievements on the ISU campus.

ASISU president Terry Fredrickson began the meeting by swearing in two new ASISU positions. The first was Kevin Schroeder, former ASISU president, filling the previously vacant position of graduate senator. Fredrickson commented on Schroeder as an individual who has a great understanding of student government. Kimberly Anderson, a sophomore studying education, was also brought before the senate for approval to fill a position on the finance committee. The senate approved both of these candidates, and they swore in stating they would "accept all duties assigned by the senate... and uphold the name of Idaho State University."

Matt Anderson, committee chair, then approached the senate with both expressions of gratitude and concerns. Anderson advocated concerns from some committee chairmen who had said they not seen or heard much from their representing senators. Anderson also announced the Book Selection Committee as well as the Web Service Council -founded by Dr. Richard Bowen- which will take on the mission to review and improve the ISU web site.

Fredrickson then continued to urge the writing of letters by both students and parents in relation to the continued legislation of tuition in Idaho. Trevor Jensen, ASISU vice president, also urged potential college students now at the high school age to write letters to their legislators as well. The tuition legislation passed the House Education Committee Friday and is now going to the Senate Education Committee. Ryan McBride, ISU student lobbyist, said students should have a better chance of being heard in the Senate Education Committee. Fredrickson also informed the senate of the impeachment of the Boise State University student president, and the calls of three BSU senators who say they, as well as much of their student body, support the lawsuit. Both Jensen and Fredrickson hope to see BSU join in on the lawsuit.
