Spindler returned to the Bengal lineup, and it showed as she shot an opening round 80 as Idaho State shot a 325, good for a tie for ninth place in the 14-team Colby Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara University.

This week the Bengal chats with a member of the ISU women's golf team, Eileen Spindler.

Bengal - What made you come to ISU?

Spindler - I came to ISU because the girls on my recruiting trip were a lot of fun and they talked me into coming.

Bengal - How long have you been playing golf?

Spindler - I have been playing golf competitively since high school. I have had a golf club in my hands since I was three years old. My parents influenced me.

Bengal - What has been the hardest course you have golfed?

Spindler - Probably Old Works Course in Anaconda near Butte, Montana. It's a Jack Nicholas course and it has black sand.

Bengal - Who is your favorite pro golf player? Why?

Spindler - Phil Michelson. You have to always root for the underdog.

Bengal - What is your favorite thing to do when you aren't golfing?

Spindler - I like to go camping up in Montana. Camping near Glacier National Park is my favorite.

Bengal - Did you play other sports?

Spindler - In high school, I played basketball and swimming. I like to bike and hike otherwise.

Bengal - What do you do to get prepared for a tournament?

Spindler - I try to just be relaxed. I found the easiest way to play in a tournament is to relax and enjoy the game.

Bengal - Do you have a nickname?

Spindler - Oh dear...when i came here my freshman year, the girls on the team named me Leeny Tot. However you will have to ask my coach what my nickname is (I think it depends on the day).

Bengal - What has been your best golf game so far?

Spindler - I shot 69 in a Montana State Amateur Tournament. It was Valley View golf course in Bozeman, Montana.

Bengal - Do you golf in the winter? If so where?

Spindler - Yeah with orange golf balls...just joking... We do hit a few golf balls inside Holt Arena.

Bengal - What do you like most about this year's team?

Spindler - We all get along and can drive our coach crazy together.

Bengal - What are the goals for the golf team this year? Your goals?

Spindler - Beat all our scores from last year and do well in conference. My goal this year is to break my averages and tournament scores from before.

Bengal - Do you ever go miniature golfing? What was your best score there?

Spindler - Yes and most people can beat me at miniature golf. I don't have a good score.

Bengal - What is your favorite club to play with?

Spindler - I don't know. I feel like I have to give them all credit because I can't do without one of them.
