This week's Student Athlete Spotlight is Anastasia Katsilometes. She is a freshman from Pocatello. Anastasia plays on the Bengal soccer team. She is working towards a major in microbiology. She completed last semester with a 4.0 GPA.

"You just have to have fun and try your hardest," Katsilometes said. "You don't get second chances and it will be over before you know it, so have fun while you do it."

If there is one thing Anastasia does, it is try her hardest. She has always been a good student.

"I was called overachiever," Katsilometes said. "I'm just weird. I just really always want to be the best."

Anastasia relies on her organization to balance her time on the field with her time in the classroom.

"I'm very organized," she says. "I always make lists to plan out my day."

Along with her 15 credits, she devotes a lot of time to soccer.

"It's like a job," Katsilometes said. "If it's not practice, it's other stuff with the team. As an athlete at ISU, it's pretty much like a job."

Anastasia's schedule is full on a daily basis. After class in the mornings, she does some running before practice. Then once practice is over, she hits the weights. Then she heads home to study.

Katsilometes is driven by the thought of the future.

"When I was younger I wanted to get a good scholarship," she says. "Now I want to get a good job."

Anastasia points to her parents as the reason for her success.

"My parents have always been behind me," she said. "They help me so much. They have their own things to do and they still find time for their kids."

Anastasia's parents are the ones who got her started playing soccer.

"I was the oldest child, so I was the guinea pig," she said. I started when I was around 10 and just kept playing."
