There have been songs through out the ages that captures the essence of that time. Bob Dylan captured the Vietnam Era with his song "All along the watchtower", and now again there is another song that captures the contemporary war being waged domestically. Out of work, out of money, out of hope, all of the social disfunction occurring in the United States presently, are listed in this song. Singer, songwriter James McMurty is heating up the indie-rock scene with his yet to be released song "We Can't Make it Here." The album is set to come out in August. McMurty is the son of Lonesome Dove author Larry McMurty. Growing up in Fort Worth, Texas , McMurty was exposed at a young age to hillbilly music and meet artist like Johnny Cash and Chris Kristofferson through his parents. McMurty has been recording albums since 1989. That initial endeavor was produced by John Mellencamp, who also collaborated with dad Larry on the Falling From Grace screenplay. His first national recognition came with an award in the New Folk category at the 1987 Kerrville Folk Festival.

My first encounter with McMurty came on April 15, while listening to InHouse with Jeremy Peterson. I thought to myself, this is it, this song completely covers what is going on here in America in my eyes. McMurty played last Saturday Night in Boise at the Egyptian Theater. McMurty was interviewed and featured on InHouse April 21,2005. McMurty's star is without a doubt fastly accelerating. Download "We Can't Make It Here" at www.jamesmcmurtry.com
