Have you ever had the dream that suddenly you are on stage in front of a huge audience trying to sing a song you don't know the words to?

Some may call that a nightmare, others would be simply ecstatic at having the chance. The ISU Program Board is giving everybody who wants to try, the chance to make their dreams come true.

ISU Idol is an event modeled after the well known television program called "American Idols." It is organized here on campus to encourage students. The Program Board is making it possible for students to recognize their talents and share them with others.

The ISU Idols Contest had three audition dates; the last one was on April 19. At those auditions some one who wants to participate in the show must stand up in front of six judges and perform their chosen song. After you have sang your song the judges then pull you aside and tell you how everything works. They give you details about when the show is and what will happen if you are picked. You are also required to agree that if you are picked you will be available for the first elimination show on April 30, 7:00 p.m. in the Pond Student Union Ballroom.

The Contest works like this: The students audition and are told 'We'll let you know'. The students who are chosen will participate in an elimination show on April 30. The twelve who were picked for the show are then narrowed down to about six participants who then sing two songs in the final show that will be judged. The winner of the final show gets the prize of 500 dollars cash.

There are many different kinds of people who participated in the auditions. One type was those who simply want the practice of being on stage in front of people. They might simply want to learn how to control stage fright, such as Kristie Elgaaen. She is a student at ISU and will be graduating in the fall with her degree in business administration. She takes the class voice taught by Geoffrey Friedley, and wanted a chance to practice feeling the stage environment before her final for the class.
