Is 'Def Poetry' really poetic

Is "Def Poetry" appropriate for the campus of ISU? This "art" and I use the term loosely, has been spreading like a virus in bigger US cities but is it something that we in the rural areas should be exposed to? I say no.

Who cares if these so-called "poets", a Harvard Law Student and an ex-skinhead, have been featured on shows like HBO & Oprah? Making appearances on shows such as these does not make their "poetry" meaningful. How can anyone be sure that this is even real "poetry"? As far as I am concerned it is just another way to mask rap music and feed it to the unknowing public.

Students of ISU: ask yourself if being tempted by a free Italian sodas and prizes such as Ipod Shuffles worth sitting through a show that isn't even real poetry?

I urge students to attend this event, drink those free sodas and win the prizes, but most of all judge for yourselves if this event should be at ISU.

Speak out and let ASISU know if they should bring such controversial events to this campus.

ISU Desk size for children

It's spring. Old Navy is selling Bermuda shorts, skirts are getting shorter, and my pale body needs some sun.  I would gladly display my skin if it weren't for all the bruises ISU is causing me.  I'm 5' 10", that's 6" taller then the average female.

At ISU we have desks made for children.  I am constantly bumping knees, elbows, and squeezing myself into the tiny combination desks.  Can ISU get more tables and chairs in the classrooms? Tables and chairs are far more adaptable.  Why are there tables and chairs in the halls of BA but not all the classrooms?  Our senate has been made aware of this problem, but I've not seen them take any measures to fix it?  We should hold our student senate a bit more accountable for our student needs.  Let's do something about it!  Let's commit our senators to force physical plant to purchase more tables and chairs.  Campus planning council needs better student representatives.  Today, you can talk to your college senator, show them your bruises, and make them take action. You are paying their tuition next semester, they owe you something in return.  Getting better seating is the least they can do.
