Helpless?
The overweight young man sits in front of a 48" plasma TV with one hand on the remote and the other in a bag of chips. "Man, I wish I was skinny". Bummer for him though, because he's fat. Nothing you can do about that.
Another student walks into the library computer lab and gets in line to wait for an open computer. She and her fellow patrons waiting in line begin to complain about the lack of computers. They're right, it chafes.
In the basement of Reed Gym one patron who is lifting weights gets bumped by another who is walking past. He loses his concentration and doesn't get the weight up. That's frustrating. Too bad. Not much of a remedy in this case.
What do these stories have in common? A misunderstanding of their own situation. The fat man can eat right and exercise, and the students can contact ASISU. ASISU has representation on 37 decision making committees on campus, and has a say on what happens at ISU. There are over 45 committed volunteers that serve on these committees, and they are there for one purpose: to serve students. You don't believe me? Try me. Email me your input at asisurep@isu.edu, and I'll communicate it to the appropriate representative. If it is not in the jurisdiction of a committee I supervise, I'll report it to the student body president who will take your input to the proper authority.
I want to hear your voice. I am the Student Voice Coordinator, and it's hard to coordinate a student voice that isn't heard.
Contact information for all of the student representatives can be found at . (If you want to be a representative on a committee contact me as well).
