It's that time of year again! ISU men's basketball is gearing up for a fresh new season of exciting action on the hardwood.

Hoops fans have much to look forward to this season, with 13 of the 27 regular season games to be played at home. In addition, the Bengals will prelude the season with two exhibition games at Reed Gym on November 7 and 14.

Idaho State will kick off the regular season with a little road trip to Lawrence, Kansas where they'll take on the perennial powerhouse, University of Kansas "Jay-Hawks." The Bengals will then say, "We're not in Kansas anymore" and return for a four game home stretch against Great Falls, Utah Valley State, Boise State, and North Dakota State.

Make sure to mark your calendars for the highlight of the home schedule, because on December 1 at 7:05 PM, Boise State will tip off against "Los Bengales" at Reed's Gym. Last year ISU defeated the Broncos in Boise 64-59.

Despite the loss of five seniors from last season, the Bengals look forward with optimism to quite possibly, the deepest and most versatile team in a few years. Some new additions to the team this year include; Akbar Abdul-Ahad, Kasey Winters, Paul Martin and a native of the P.O.C., Matt Stuki.

Some familiar names returning from last season are; "Big Sky Freshman of the Year"- Logan Kinghorn, Tim Henry, Kyle Hopkins, and none other than Mr. Slim Millien.

When asked if there was anything that set this team apart from other years, senior Dave Schroeder responded, "I see a lot of depth. This is definitely the deepest team that I've played with during my time here at Idaho State."

FRESH is always better, whether it's fruit or the start of a new season. The men's basketball team will be showing a different style of play this season, according to Schroeder.

"We're going to be playing an up-tempo, fast paced, high intensity style of basketball."

Fans, get back in the saddle and hold onto the reigns, because it looks like the Bengals are going to be pulling the run and gun card out of the deck this year.

"Running the floor, fresh subs, and pressure defense have been key focuses in preparation for the season," Schroeder said. "Getting in better shape will be critical to our success in this new style of play."
