Music enthusiasts will be in for a treat as ISU Jazz Fest kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3. Jazz Fest will feature a concert Friday night, followed by free clinics and artist instruction Saturday, Feb. 4. The second concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. All shows and clinics will be in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall at the Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Tickets to Friday's show will be $10 for the general public, $3 for pre-college students, and $5 for ISU faculty and staff. ISU students will be admitted free of charge. Saturday's show will be $5 for the general public, $3 for pre-college students, $2 for ISU faculty and staff. Again, ISU students will be admitted free.

Friday night's concert will feature the Larry Goldings Trio, consisting of organist Larry Goldings, drummer Bill Stewart, and guitarist Anthony Wilson.

Larry Goldings is widely regarded as one of today's finest Jazz organists and composers. He has performed with such artists as John Scofield and James Taylor, and played piano on Taylor's most recent release "October Road". He has nine highly acclaimed albums under his own name. Anyone seeking more information on him can visit his site at www.larrygoldings.com.

Bill Stewart is a self-taught drummer who cut his teeth playing for John Scofield in the early '90s. He has also played with Joe Henderson and James Brown. Yes, that James Brown. He has two solo albums released to date, as well as a collaboration with Larry Goldings.

Anthony Wilson is a member of the Jazz studies faculty at UCLA, but that is not his only claim to fame. The son of famed arranger and composer Gerald Wilson, Anthony's own self-titled debut received a Grammy nomination for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Recording in 1998. He has played with musicians such as Bennie Wallace and Aaron Neville, as well as, of course, his father. Musical talent must run in the family.

And a gathering of talent it is. "I'm excited about Jazz fest," says ISU Music Professor and Director of bands Dr. Patrick Brooks, "It is a privilege to have these artists visit us here at ISU".
