Letter to the Editor : Call for Hobson and Sharp's impeachment
Issue date: 2/1/06 Section: Opinion
Matt Hobson, President of ASISU, and Will Sharp, Vice President of ASISU, have sworn to represent the students of ISU, and uphold the constitution and bylaws of student government. Despite these publicly declared promises, they have neglected their duties, duties of which they were appraised, duties written in clear language. They have also defamed the very offices in which they serve through inappropriate interpersonal and public conduct. These acts of neglect, and blatant disregard for their duties include:
• Missing State Board of Education meetings. • On record as supporting a tuition increase.
• Disregarding student voice by refusing to speak out against administration raises.
• Failing to fulfill their required office hours. • Attempting to illegally transfer ASISU funds.
• Disregard ASISU bylaws by appointing people without required oversight of senate members.
•Overstepped their bounds by approving changes to election procedures without senate approval.
Matt Hobson has previously been censured for some of the above acts, and promised to uphold the bylaws from that point on. However, Matt and Will have continued to neglect their duties, much to the aggravation of some observant ISU students. They have had ample opportunity for correcting their behavior, and have shown consistently disappointing habits. We are calling on all ISU students to voice their final disappointment by calling for their impeachment.
We, the undersigned,
Joshua Thompson, Graduate Studies Senator
Daniel Clawson, COT Senator
Cristie Stone, COT Senator
Erica Fredrickson, COT Senator
Kimi Taylor, Finance Chairwoman
Ashley Hargraves, Education Senator
Shawnee Knapp, Arts and Science Senator
Travis Hanks, former COT President
Dawn Young, Health Professions Senator
Meghan Andersen, Health Professions Senator
