Letter to the Editor : ISU PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUES
Issue date: 2/1/06 Section: Opinion
While being a student at ISU I worked for ISU Public Safety. I felt the brunt and saw many others take the rude, harsh, and deliberate firing of students as Director Steve Chatterton commanded. Student have no right and need to protect themsleves, knowing that employers on campus will let you go quickley. Also another reality was seen not only with me, but with others working at ISU Public Safety. They keep records about you without your knowledge. These files are used against you if you plan to graduate and use your work on campus as a reference. As I saw, Steve Chatterton put information that was false and misleading in files without employee's knowledge, which is illegal, that were later released with a maliciouse intent. I sent a large informational packet to the President of ISU, but nothing was done. Overall the students need to protect themselves, know the laws where there are some, and get past employee's references of the departments on ISU campus before signing employment papers.
