Brown says their first act of business for the year will be filling appointed positions for the Spring, attending State Board meetings, planning the ASISU Retreat and planning for an open forum. Brown says this forum will be an opportunity for students to get answers and for the new leadership to know what the students want and expect for the year.
"During the forum, we will take time to answer questions and listen to any ideas for changes students and administration would like to see the executive branch take action on during our term," Brown wrote in an email.
Two other issues Brown says she and Sargent will be acting on shortly is to change by-laws and ensure an easy transition between the senate bodies.
"We are working to reform the election by-laws while elections are still fresh in our heads," Brown said. "We also want to make a smooth transition between the ASISU positions."
Sargent-Brown are also planning for some changes that will have effect on ASISU and constituents. Brown invites students to get involved.
"There are some changes taking place with positions in ASISU," Brown said. "We are accepting applications for positions right now."
Sargent says they have two major concerns:
"One, weighing the cost of our education vs. the quality of education. Two, ASISU's ability to work with our administration instead of against our administration."
Sargent says that as the student government, they will do what is best for ISU students.
"Fiscal responsibility within ASISU is key," Sargent said. "We're going to reform ASISU to save students money and give them a more effective and efficiant student association that actually stands up for students first."
Brown's experience includes Election Board Chair, 'Cabinet Member of the Year,' the current Performing Arts Chair on the Program Board, and positions in the Greek program.
Sargent is the ASISU student lobbyist. He is also on a state task force for textbook reform with the goal of breaking down the high costs of textbooks. Sargent has also served as vice president of LDSSA and other club positions. Currently, Sargent has been involved in pursuing the creation of a student position on the State Board of Education.
