The ISU Women's Studies Program will be hosting African historian Dr. Benigna Zimba, as part of International Women's Day, March 8 on the ISU campus.

Zimba will present "Globalization and Women's Lives: Women and Cotton Production in Mozambique" at 7 p.m. today, March 8. This lecture will focus on the 'interactions between gender relations and the production and marketing of cotton', and more specifically the 'obstacles' and prioritization of values that women must endure to work in this trade.

"We are privileged to host an esteemed African woman scholar to celebrate International Women's Day," said Dr. Mary Jane Burns, professor of political science and co-director of ISU's Women's Studies Program. "Her innovative and timely research on important topics of the position of women under colonial rule in Africa and the women's textile trade has opened new insights into women's political and economic history."

For information about tonight's presentation contact ISU History Professor Dr. Jack Owens at 282-3232.
