ISU Bengal

This week we took some time visiting the men's tennis practice. The tennis team currently owns an 8-8 record and sits at 2-1 in conference play. The Bengals will hit the court this Friday, April 7, when they pay a visit to Eastern Washington.

The Bengals will return to action at Reed Gym April 15 to host Montana State at 9 AM. It will be their final home match before the Big Sky Championships, which will also be held at Reed Gym.

During our visit to the practice session, we got to know Marc Pijoan. Marc is a junior from Ripollet, (a small village outside of Barcelona) Spain. He has two brothers and is majoring in business.

Bengal - Favorite color?

Pijoan - Red and blue.

Bengal - Favorite movie?

Pijoan - "Remember the Titans."

Bengal - Favorite food?

Pijoan - Mediterranean food.

Bengal - Favorite tennis player?

Pijoan - Roger Federer.

Bengal - Favorite team?

Pijoan - FC Barcelona (soccer team).

Bengal - How did you end up at ISU?

Pijoan- I had a manager that knew Bobby (ISU tennis coach). He talked to him and I ended up coming here.

Bengal - What is the biggest difference between Spain and Idaho?

Pijoan - First of all the weather. Like the 30's is the coldest it gets there. It's different. It's more humid there.

Bengal - Do you like to play singles or doubles better?

Pijoan - I like both. In singles you are by yourself, but sometimes it is more fun to play doubles if you know what you are doing.

Bengal - Did you play any other sports?

Pijoan - Basically just tennis, but I played some soccer too.

Bengal - What was your first job?

Pijoan - I was a tennis pro back home.

Bengal - Are you a morning person?

Pijoan - Yeah. I don't mind coming in early. Sometimes I come to hit or serve or run.

Bengal - What is your most prized possession?

Pijoan - I guess my tennis rackets.

Bengal - Do you have any superstitions?

Pijoan - Sometimes I try not to step on the lines during matches. During a tournament I try to shower in the same place. I always go to the bathroom before a match.

Bengal - What kind of music do you like?

Pijoan - Latin music. I can listen to everything. I like a lot of Shakira.

Bengal - What are you afraid of?

Pijoan - I'm kind of claustrophobic. Like when I had a couple of MRI's for my back. That is my only fear.

Bengal - Can you cook?

Pijoan - Yes. I cook everything. The guys say I'm a good cook.

Bengal - Well if they like it, it must be good.

Pijoan - Probably just because they are hungry.

Bengal - What is your biggest pet peeve?

Pijoan - I don't like it when people are smoking. Especially when they blow smoke at you. I really hate cocky people the most.

Bengal - Do you have a nickname?

Pijoan - I don't have one here, but back home it was Pijo.

Bengal - Where will you be in 5 years?

Pijoan - I don't know. I wish I could play pro. It's gonna be tough though. I need to get some money cause it's expensive. We'll see. Probably back home. I'm not planning to be here.
