ISU Student-Athletes Bushman and Molitor Receive Awards

Pocatello, ID-Idaho State University student-athletes Lisa Bushman and Anthony Molitor have been honored with academic achievement awards. Bushman was selected as the 2006 Outstanding Physical Education Major of the Year from Idaho State by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE). Molitor was named the 2006 recipient of the Outstanding Student Achievement Award for the College of Education at ISU.

Bushman, a native of Riverside, Calif., receives the NASPE award, which recognizes outstanding students majoring in athletic training, exercise science, fitness/wellness, health and human performance, physical education, pre-physical therapy, recreation and sport management from colleges and/or universities that have professional preparation programs throughout the country. Only one student per major from each institution is recognized each year.

Bushman had a successful three-year career with the Idaho State volleyball team. The three-year letter winner played in 82 matches and 272 games for ISU from 2003-05. She collected 968 assists, 360 digs, and 36 service aces over three seasons with ISU. Bushman received Big Sky Conference All-Academic honors three times.

The former ISU setter will join the ISU volleyball coaching ranks this next season as an assistant coach. She plans on pursuing a master's degree in athletic administration while also working on a second bachelor's degree in mathematics.

Bushman will be honored at a recognition ceremony and program sponsored by ESPN and Polar Electro, Inc., on April 27 at the Hilton Hotel in Salt Lake City.

Molitor receives the Outstanding Student Achievement Award for the College of Education from the Idaho State Alumni Association, which recognizes a student from each college with the honor.

The Pocatello native played four seasons for the Bengal golf team, lettering all four years. This past fall, he led the Bengals in two of the team's five tournaments, and finished in a tie for ninth at the Gene Miranda Invitational. He shot a season-best 70 at the same tournament. Molitor finished his career at ISU with numerous top-20 performances.

Molitor will be honored at a banquet on April 21 at the Red Lion hotel in Pocatello, where he will deliver an acceptance speech. Molitor will also lead his college in the processional at Commencement on Saturday, May 13th.
