In a tour given by Idaho Division Public Works Field Representative, Milt Jensen, The Bengal received an inside view of the structure including where the different facilities of the building will be located.
The 72 housing units with 301 beds will be on the south side of the building. These housing units are meant to be another on-campus housing option for students-especially since the housing at Garrison Hall has been given up to classrooms and offices.
Each apartment has four bedrooms, a kitchen area open to a living area, a bathroom and a washer and dryer. The center wall of the living area is actually windows that overlook the center of the building called the Atrium.
In the Atrium, there will be food services, a 120 seat computer lab and a lot of wide-open space for students to lounge and enjoy.
The north side of the building, nearest to the street, is where the 50 classrooms will be. Facilities Director Darrel Buffaloe says the classrooms are greatly needed since learning space in the other buildings on-campus has become limited, and building an entirely new building turned out to be more cost efficient than just adding on to the older buildings.
The planetarium/lecture hall with 250 seats will also be located on this wing of the building and will occupy the height of the second and third floors.
The third floor of the building will not actually be finished with the rest of the building.
But this does not mean that construction of this floor will not be started. The third floor will be finished once the campus's needs for this floor are known.
The building name, Rendezvous, actually derives from building's intended purpose-to bring students from all over campus together.
