Geoff Alexander Named Men's Basketball Assistant Coach

Pocatello, ID -- Geoff Alexander, a former player at Southeast Iowa Community College and an assistant for the past three seasons at highly successful Daytona Beach Community College, has been named an assistant basketball coach by Joe O'Brien, ISU's new men's basketball coach.
Alexander is the first of O'Brien's assistant coaches to be officially announced. He spent the past three seasons at Daytona Beach Community College, where he helped the Falcons to a three-year mark of 70-24, including a 25-5 mark this past season. At DBCC, the Falcons also won three consecutive Mid-Florida Conference Championships. The Falcons featured a tremendous defensive team in 05-06, limiting 13 opponents to 65 points or fewer while forcing 530 turnovers.
Prior to coming to DBCC, Geoff spent one year as assistant coach at Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, Texas. During his stint at Jacksonville College, the team finished 17-13 overall and tied for second place in Region 14. He also served as the graduate assistant at Western Illinois University for the Division I Leathernecks during the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons.
Alexander began his collegiate career as a guard at Southeastern Community College where he played under O'Brien, before transferring to Western Illinois University where he played is final two years. He received his bachelor's degree in physical education from Western Illinois University in 2000 and also received his master's degree from WIU in physical education in 2002.
Alexander is the first assistant coach to be announced by Joe O'Brien. A second assistant coach has been hired by can not be announced until his current contractual obligation is up.
