Logan, UT--- Utah State didn't miss many shots, and Idaho State struggled both offensively and defensively, hitting only 34% of their shots as the Aggies soundly defeated Idaho State 83-46, dealing the Bengals the 16th-worst defeat in the program's history.

Jaycee Carroll was the ringleader for Utah State, as he was 7-for-8, hitting four threes on the way to 22 points, one of six Utah State players in double-figures. ISU also didn't have an answer for Durall Peterson, who scored 17 points and drained five three-pointers. For the game, USU hit on 9-of-17 threes, while ISU was just 4-for-18.

The Bengals were paced by John Ofoegbu, who scored 15 points, most of them of the tough variety. David Schroeder had just eight points, ending his streak of double-figure scoring games at 17 dating back to last season.

Utah State led by as much as 41 before ISU scored the last four points of the game. The loss was the largest margin of defeat since ISU lost 77-35 at Eastern Washington in 2005.

The Aggies opened up a 47-26 halftime advantage on the strength of 16-for-22 shooting, including hitting 14 of their first 17 shots. Jaycee Carroll hit a pair of threes back-to-back, and then ISU head coach Joe O'Brien was whistled for a technical for being outside the coaching box, and that gave USU a 20-11 lead.

John Ofoegbu scored nine straight ISU points, the last of which made it 28-20, but that was the last of the game being in single digits, and a Mike Watson runner at the buzzer gave the Aggies their biggest first half lead at 47-26.

The Bengals get a few days to lick their wounds before taking on Idaho on Wednesday night at 7:05 pm. That game will mark the return to Holt Arena for the first time since the 2001-02 season.
