Don't you wish you were me

Here I am at Reed Gym and ISU's men's basketball team is about to tip off with Carroll College. That's when it hits me. This is it. This is the last ISU game I will attend as a student and sports editor for The Bengal.
No more having my glute muscles go numb from sitting on those hard benches at Reed Gym. No more scanning the crowd to see if any of my friends are at the game. (They never are. Apparently, they actually do their homework.) No more checking out the cheerleaders when they perform. No more suffering through "Cotton Eye Joe" played in the arena at every game.
It's not just the worst song in the history of mankind, but quite offensive to anybody named Joe. I certainly won't miss that, but I still wonder if I should be sad. I mean, it is the end of an era you know.
It is halftime and we are trailing by 10. My mind wanders from this game. I start thinking back over my two years as the sports editor. We've had some unbelievable wins.
Anybody remember last year's homecoming game? The Bengals drove 28 yards in the final 20 seconds and won 36-34 on a 54 yard field goal with one second left. Who would've thought the Bengals would come back from a 34-14 deficit in the final minute of the third quarter to win 49-42 over Northern Colorado in double overtime?
Speaking of comebacks, the men's basketball team made a pretty impressive one when they came from 21 down at the half to defeat North Dakota State. The women's basketball team had a pretty exciting win in a game that had 17 lead changes, 77-75 over Montana State to clinch the Big Sky Conference Title.
I think the most exciting win I've seen came in the championship game of the Big Sky Conference soccer tournament. ISU brought home the championship in a game that went down to the seventh penalty kick.
We've also suffered some gut wrenching defeats. Take the last football game for example. Weber State wins 30-27 after the Bengals miss a field goal with two seconds to play. What about the season opener for the men's basketball team? ISU goes on the road to face Marquette, ranked 16th in the country and loses 59-56 in overtime with Marquette getting a 31-5 edge on the free throw line.
