Many things can divide cultures, but dance is one thing that brings them together. Students and area residents can learn about the joy inherent in folk dancing, while also becoming aware of the culture of other lands.
This event will be held in the Pond Student Union Ballroom. The workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until noon, and a second session will began at 2:00 p.m. and continue until 4:00.
Come any time you are able, no partners or experience necessary. Participants will be taught basic steps and dances in the morning and intermediate dances in the afternoon by DeWayne Young, a former BYU instructor. Recreational folk dancing is for everyone, regardless of age or ability.
The event is hosted by the International Folk Dance Group, ISU and Friends, and is supported by the Associated Students of ISU (ASISU). Admission is free to students. Guests are encouraged to donate $5. For more information contact Lillian Moore at (208) 237-9727.
