ISU track competes well in Hornet Invitational

Idaho State competed as a full team for the first time this outdoor season in the Hornet Invitational in Sacramento, California. Idaho State had 14 athletes, including the 4x400 team finish in the top three of 13 different events.
In the short sprints Brittany Rozier finished the 100 meter dash in second place with a time of 12.14. In the 400 meter dash Tiffany Andersen ran a time of 55.99 seconds good enough for first place. Jenny Downey finished in 2nd place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.31. In the distance races Lois Ricardi represented Idaho State with a 1st place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Ricardi finished with a time of 10:56. The Idaho State women's 4x400 team took 3rd place with a time of 3:54.62.
In the field events Sydney Wendt jumped 5'5" to take third place in the high jump. Katie Williams took 2nd place in the pole vault with a vault of 12'5.5". Jessica Hillam took 3rd place in both the shot put and the discus throw with a throw of 42'4" in the shot put and 142'3" in the discuss.
In the 1500 meter run for the men Saheed Khan finished in 3rd place with a time of 3:56.99. In the high jump Ben Layman finished in 2nd place with a jump of 6'8.75". Layman was followed by Jacob Keller who finished in 3rd place with a jump of 6'6.75". Layman also finished in the top three in the long jump. Layman finished in 3rd place with a distance of 23'4.5". John Danielson finished the shot put in 2nd place with a throw of 58'11.5".
Idaho State will next compete in the Boise vs ISU Duel on April 6 and 7.
