Men's tennis finishes 16th in spring break tournament

Boise, ID-- ISU men's tennis received 16th place in the Boise State Red Lion Spring Break Tournament. Their last match in the consolation bracket was a loss against Lewis-Clark State Friday morning at the Crane Creek Country Club. The Bengals match for 15th place was against Big Sky foe Weber State Saturday morning at the Crane Creek Country Club. ISU men's tennis season record fell to 1-13. Boise State received 1st place in the tournament.
The Bengals were nearly defeated by Lewis-Clark State 5-2, after dropping two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches. Jeremy Atkin and Jordan Leask gained a doubles victory at the number three spot by defeating Kevin Lee and Sebastian Kuhn 8-4. Gal Horovits started slow
but overcame his opponent, Cedric Dufour, to win his three set match 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 at the number one singles spot. Horovits' singles record improves to 3-6. Masimba Ruwo also gained a victory for the Bengals by defeating Kevin Lee 6-2, 6-0 at the number two singles spot. Ruwo's singles record improves to 4-6. Jeremy Atkin played a tough match that went to a super-ten tie-breaker against opponent Andy Hunt, but was defeated 5-7, 6-4 (10-7) at the number three singles spot.
On Saturday the Bengals finished the tournament with a match against Big Sky foe Weber State. The Bengals were defeated by Weber State 4-0. The Bengals lost three of the three doubles matches and three of the singles matches. Atkin was up 6-4, 4-2 against Travis Covington at the number three spot when the match was called.
The Bengals next match will occur on April 17 at Utah State at 1:30 p.m.
