Pocatello, ID --- Jaret Johnson, a former Idaho State placekicker who was a 2005 First Team All-American kicker, earned a coveted kicking spot in NFL Europe with his work at the NFL Europe kicker tryouts.
Johnson, who is a free agent, is one of three kickers on the roster for the Admirals, and the other two are part of the NFL's cultural exchange program with China in their efforts to bring the game of football to them. Those kickers are Chaoran Li and Yalei Shen.
Johnson earned All-American honors in 2005 after going 17-for-19 including a pair of Big Sky Player of the Week honors. He was the national player of the week after his 54-yard field goal with one second left defeated Portland State 36-34 on senior night.
Johnson's first game will be this Saturday, and it will be broadcast on the NFL Network live at 11:00 am Mountain Time as the Admirals take on the Frankfurt Galaxy in Germany.
