Choreographer teaches dance class open to all

Amy O'Neal, visiting guest artist from Seattle, comes to ISU

Free performance by Amy O'Neal and I~Move on April 21st at 4:30 p.m. in the Stephens Performing Arts Center, Rogers Experimental Theatre

Amy O'Neal, a dancer and choreographer currently residing in Seattle, will be visiting ISU as a guest artist the week of April 16-21, 2007 through the generosity of the Connie Smith Bowen Rural Arts Series. A cutting-edge performer who has worked with the likes of Sonia Dawkins, Savion Glover, Pat Graney, and Mark Haim, she will be in residence with the Idaho Moving Project (I~Move) for the entire week and will act as a guest artist in many of the Dance Program's classes.

. O'Neal will also be offering a FREE community class on Saturday, April 21st, in the new Red Hill Dance Studio from 10 am - 12:00 p.m. This workshop will be open to all community members, faculty, staff, and students. Come prepared to move! No shoes necessary.

In addition, Amy O'Neal, in conjunction with I~Move, will be presenting a FREE informal concert in the Stephens Performing Arts Center Rogers Experimental Theatre at 4:30 p.m. Come see O'Neal's unique choreography as well as a special sneak preview of I~Move's newest piece choreographed by O'Neal.

The events with Amy O'Neal are part of the first annual Dance Day at ISU. In addition to the events with Ms. O'Neal, all high school students are welcome to take free workshops throughout the afternoon in ballet, modern, jazz, and Pilates taught by ISU dance students and faculty. This is your chance to get a firsthand taste of the exciting dance possibilities at ISU. For more information on Dance Day, contact Lauralee Zimmerly at 282-2597.
