Culture strikes ISU again!

Jerrod Warr

Issue date: 4/18/07 Section: Life
As an added bonus to the evening, once the festival ended the experience didn't have to be over. This was possible because of a silent auction and market-style booth that were set up to sell Japanese culture in its various forms. One could purchase dolls, vases, fans, fountains, sandals, paintings, and a variety of other items, all at a wide range of prices; there was truly something there for everyone. What's better is much of the proceeds went to the ISU Japanese Club students for academic scholarships and study abroad programs, allowing oriental cultural to take on a whole new experience for some of our Bengals.

As evidenced by the Ballroom filled with delighted faces, the 3rd Annual Cherry Blossom Festival was a resounding success. If you're interested in joining the ISU Japanese Club, visit www.isujapaneseclub.org or email the current president of the club, Joe Lenihan, at president@isujapaneseclub.org. Membership is open to all- students, faculty, and community members alike. You can learn not only about the Cherry Blossom Festival, but about the Japanese language, overarching culture, and the intercultural exchange program. After all- college should be more than homework, mediocre jobs, and the wonderful world of potatoes.
