ISU Alumni Association announces Outstanding Student Achievement Award recipients

The ISU Alumni Association, in conjunction with the ISU Ambassadors, has announced the 2006-2007 Outstanding Student Achievement Award recipients. The award is given to one graduating student from each college (as well as a number of sub-colleges) that has shown outstanding achievement and ability in the areas of academics, extra-curricular activities, and in their personal lives. The 11 winners, as well as 11 runners-up, will receive their awards at a dinner to be held in their honor at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 27 at the Red Lion Hotel in Pocatello.

The 2006-2007 Outstanding Student Achievement Award recipients are: Christian P. Batcheller, Graduate School-master's; Evan S. Frasure III, College of Pharmacy; Deborah D. Gillard, College of Technology; Jeffrey J. Grieve-College of Arts and Sciences-Social Sciences; Edwin A. Guerra, College of Engineering; Michael J. Lance, College of Arts and Sciences-Natural Sciences and Mathematics; Torey L. Portrie, Graduate School-doctoral, R. Tal Sampson, College of Arts and Sciences-Fine Arts and Humanities; Kristal Searle, College of Business; Melanie Williams, College of Education; and Angela V. Young, Kasiska College of Health Professions. The runners-up are: Claudia V. Allen, College of Business; Cassandra A. Case, College of Arts and Sciences-Fine Arts and Humanities; Janica J. Gillette, Kasiska College of Health Professions; Sheldon T. Harris, College of Education; Obiajulu J. Isebor, College of Engineering; Sandra A. Lechner, College of Arts and Sciences-Social Sciences; JoSann M. Lien, Graduate School-master's; Heather N. Ruesch, College of Pharmacy; Steven M. Seiler, Graduate School-doctoral; Chad D. Watts, College of Arts and Sciences-Natural Sciences and Mathematics; and Kimberly Wright, College of Technology.

According to Casey Thompson, Alumni Relations Record Specialist, the award is one of the most prestigious honors available for graduating seniors, masters and doctoral students. This, he stated was partly due to the quality nominations that they receive.
