Maybe you've heard the radio spots, or perused through the newspaper to see ads featuring the WRX. You've probably seen the signs up around campus, hanging both out on the quad and throughout various buildings. Perhaps you've even received one of the many promotional items such as karabiners, cups, ping-pong balls, and the many other assorted knick-knacks. You might even have wondered what this "Play Dirty" slogan is all about, and how it relates to Subaru and ISU. Well, live in this world of uncertainty no more- the answers are just paragraphs away!

Oftentimes throughout a given academic lecture, students find themselves asking, "How does this relate to any real-world application? When am I going to use this information?" For ISU's Marketing 428 class, this couldn't be further from their thoughts. In a culminating fashion, these students have accepted the challenge to take everything they've learned throughout their college career and put it together in a national, colligate contest in which there is one goal- promote the Subaru brand.

In association with Edventure Partners and Subaru of America, "Project Acceleration" is designed to provide students throughout the nation with "rigorous hands-on training in the fundamentals of marketing- market research, marketing strategy, campaign design, advertising, public relations, and campaign assessment." It's like an internship program injected with a Rockstar IV. Throughout the semester, these students have run focus groups and surveys, collaborated with local businesses, maintained a strict budget, and designed a plans book to be presented directly to Subaru, all with one thing in mind- to make sure you have a great time learning about Subaru.

And that's where April 25th comes in. Hey, wait a second... that's today! Yes, today- the moment these ISU marketing students have been working so hard for. If you're anywhere near the quad today, you'll undoubtedly see the exciting commotion taking place. The event goes from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and there are plenty of activities to participate in. There's of course free food (has there ever been a college event that's complete without free food?) in the form of hamburgers, hot dogs, cookies, chips, and soda. There's live music from the band Takeover Tuesday and various performers from guitars unplugged, as well as local radio stations KBear 101 and Z103. Games are on the docket too, including a "Play Dirty" slip 'n slide and mud pit, just to name a couple. There are multiple giveaways, from a snowboard to numerous gift certificates. And of course, you can look forward to checking out the Subarus on hand, specifically from the Impreza line (which includes the popular WRX).

Not only is the event a great way to kick off your spring activities, but it's an awesome way to help ISU and its marketing students in this national competition. The event is open to absolutely everyone, and as far as the marketing students are concerned, the more the merrier. Simply by showing up at the event, you help them compete against the other universities who are in the competition. All you have to do is eat food, enter to win prizes, have fun playing games, and tell them what you think. Don't make them twist your arm, right? It's a win-win situation, so make sure you stop by the ISU quad today and show Subaru of America how we here at ISU and Pocatello like to "Play Dirty."
