ISU Public Safety Log 4/15- 4/19

On 04/16/07 at approximately 7:32 p.m. on Bartz Way, an ISU student received an ISU citation for traveling 42 mph in a posted 25 mph zone.

On 04/16/07 at approximately 11:36 p.m. in G01 Lot, Public Safety stopped a vehicle being operated by an individual who is banned from ISU campus. Case referred to Pocatello Police Department.

On 04/17/07 at approximately 7:05 a.m. in the G13 Lot, an ISU student received an ISU verbal warning for traveling 39 mph in a posted 15 mph zone. The case was referred to the Dean of Students.

On 04/14/07 at approximately 8:32 a.m. at Central Operations, Public Safety took an information report regarding a suspicious e-mail that had been received by an ISU employee.

On 04/17/07 at approximately 1:30 p.m. at Central Operations, Public Safety took a report of possible stalking.

On 04/17/07 at approximately 4:52 p.m. at Graduate Housing, Public Safety responded to a report of two non-ISU students 'panhandling.' The individuals were contacted and advised that it is against ISU policy to ask for money from people on campus. Case referred to Pocatello Police Department.

On 04/18/07 at approximately 3:24 a.m. in G10 Lot, Public Safety issued a verbal warning to an ISU student for traveling the wrong way down a one way.

On 04/18/07 at approximately 1:00 p.m. at Central Operations, Public Safety received a report of suspicious sounds; possible gunshots or a vehicle backfiring. All units responded to the area with Pocatello Police and nothing was found.

On 04/18/07 at approximately 6:41 p.m. at Turner Hall, Public Safety responded to a report of a suspicious individual. The individual could not be contacted at that time.

On 04/18/07 at approximately 11:16 p.m. at Davis Field, Public Safety responded to lock the gate and discovered four non-ISU students. Pocatello Police Department was contacted and responded. The individuals were given ISU verbal warnings.

On 04/19/07 at approximately 8:45 a.m. at Central Operations, Public Safety took a report of a group of suspicious individuals. The individuals were confirmed to be visitors from a performance group.

On 04/19/07 at approximately 11:46 a.m. at Frazier Hall, Public Safety responded to a report of suspicious yelling. The surrounding area was checked and no disturbance was found.

On 04/19/07 at approximately 12:23 p.m. hours at Turner Hall, Public Safety received a report of a suspicious smell. Upon arrival, officers determined the smell to be burnt marijuana, but could not locate the source.

On 04/19/07 at approximately 12:26 p.m. in the area of Bartz Way, Public Safety responded to a report of gun shots fired. Public Safety and PPD checked the area to find nothing of any danger, and believed it to be a vehicle backfire.

On 04/19/07 at approximately 10:13 p.m. at Schubert Heights, Public Safety responded to an alarm activation. Pocatello Fire Department was contacted and responded. Upon arrival, it was determined that the cause of a fire was due to a towel left on a stovetop. The alarm was reset.
