When should student fees be increased?

2- Mission of Idaho State University. If our university is to going to surpass other state universities, we must enhance our research agenda.
3- Prestige. Graduating from a higher tier research institution enhances the competitive advantage of ISU graduates.
4- Increased enrollment. The availability of student research funding will attract additional students looking for research opportunities.
5- Employability. Many employers are seeking recent graduates that already have hands on research experience.
6- Take control of your future. By dedicating a very small portion of student fees to research, students will be able to directly enhance their college experience and future opportunities.
7- Quality faculty. Quality faculty members have research agendas. They seek out and accept positions at institutions that are capable of enhancing their research. Having well funded student research makes Idaho State University more attractive.
Ten dollars a semester is a small price to pay for the benefits received. The benefits will be enjoyed by every student who attends Idaho State University. If the opportunity to voice our opinions concerning this issue arises, we should look at the benefits and give a resounding yes, but only if they are earmarked.
