During the week of April 12, Jeremy Buck and the Bang were about to get an offer that they couldn't refuse. While completing their mid-west tour they received a phone call from ISU stating that Blues Traveler was lacking an opening band and had turned down the first four bands that were offered to them. When Blues Traveler heard the band's demo, they were invited to open.
Since that day, Jeremy Buck and the Bang have amassed quite a following in Idaho. They played at four venues this trip to Idaho, though they were originally only asked to play at ISU-Idaho Falls on Wednesday, Aug. 29. They were later booked at CSI, at the Armory, on Friday, and ISU was able to approach the band and have them open for Poison Cherry during the Rendezvous Complex opening on Thursday, as well. The First National bar then got in on the opportunity and asked them to play on Saturday, Sept. 1.
Jeremy Buck is the band's lead singer, drummer, and original songwriter. His signature move during the concert comes at the end of the show when he jams his drum stick straight through the top of the drum, which the band later signs and gives to the fan of their choice.
Buck has been playing drums since he was a young boy, and is a huge Earth, Wind, and Fire fan, as well as a fan of Johnny Cash, Frank Zappa, and the Beatles.
Buck moved from Indiana to California to pursue acting and singing, but music soon became more prominent in his life. While playing in California he met Joel "the ghost" Geist. Geist began producing and engineering with Buck, and then later on began his role as the band's bassist.
When the two met, it was an instant click and they began to venture into the creation of the band. A year later, while attending a fellow musician's birthday party, Buck met Chris Hanna. Hanna had a band and was playing a back-to-back set with Buck. In passing Buck threw Hanna his five-song debut CD, "A Secret Made of Dreams". A short time later Hanna called Buck for another CD after his became scratched. During this conversation, Buck commented that his band needed a guitarist. After hearing Hanna play, Buck and Geist decided he was "acceptable" and the rest is history.
