The ISU Women's Club started the school year off with their annual Past Presidents Reception at the Alumni house Sept. 6. The ISU Women's Club founded in 1923 is the oldest organized women's group on campus.
"Our goal is to make scholarships for students," said ISU Women's Club President Kristine Kunze. "We have fundraisers every year, that is our whole purpose."
The fundraisers provide three scholarships of $2,500 dollars each to ISU students.
The meeting was from 4-6 p.m. at the alumni house. Invited were all of the women faculty and staff members and wives of faculty and staff members. The reception's goal was to gain some memberships to start the year off strong.
"The meeting was very well attended," said Kunze, "although we hoped for more new members."
Some annual events held by the women's club are the annual fair and the Scholarship Luncheon.
The fair is held every November and is well attended by the community each year, said Kunze. "People come from all over the valley to sell their wares. It's our biggest money maker."
The Scholarship Luncheon is usually held in the spring and includes various donated raffle prizes and a quilt.

In addition to fundraising activities, the group has interest groups where they do fun things together to strengthen their friendships such as sewing, outdoor adventure and movies.
"It's a good way to get to know each other, especially if you are new, and get involved in activities at ISU," said Kunze.
Kunze said that she joined the club originally because she "felt it was something worthwhile, that was helpful and would benefit others.
"It would benefit the students at ISU so they can continue their education, which I feel very strongly about," she said.
Kunze said that the club is always looking for new members. "We'd love to have them come and joins us."
