Terming it a "wonderful moment of ISU history" Idaho State University President Arthur C. Vailas, Ph.D., welcomed officials and members of the university and Pocatello community to the grand opening ceremony for Idaho State University's new 255,000-square-foot Rendezvous Complex Aug.
On 08/31/07 at approximately 9:28 a.m. at the Rendezvous Center, Public Safety responded for a fire alarm. Pocatello Fire Department responded and found the area to be clear of emergency. Case referred to Maintenance for further inspection of the smoke detectors.
This summer ISU bid farewell to the commercially based WebCT Learning Management System (LMS) and welcomed the new free open source system Moodle. LMS is the system used by professors and students to communicate online, post homework assignments, and discuss topics in open forums.

ISU's Public Safety recently acquired a "gently" used 2002 BMW R1150 RTP motorcycle. They purchased the motorcycle in hopes it would save them on maintenance and gasoline costs in comparison to their SUV's, increase their ability to make community contacts, and decrease their response time in certain circumstances.

On Tuesday, Sept. 4, a campus wide e-mail was sent informing ISU faculty and students that a bomb threat had been posed to both the Pocatello and Idaho Falls campuses, namely the Tingey building in Idaho Falls and the Administration building in Pocatello. According to Steve Chatterton, Director of Public Safety, the e-mailed threat had been sent the Sunday before and was not discovered until Tuesday.
