Saturday's weather could not have been better for thousands and thousands of people across the country to be out watching football. Thousands came out to watch ISU in Coach Zamberlin's debut, and the football team's first game of this 2007 season. However, the game could not begin before the fans congregated outside of Holt Arena for the tail-gaiting festivities, food and fun.
Idaho State came into this year's Governor's Cup tournament as the defending champions, looking to repeat, and continued playing like champions as they defeated the Boise State Broncos 5-2 on Friday and the Idaho Vandals 2-0 on Sunday. On Friday the 7th the ISU Bengals faced the Boise State Broncos for their first game of the Governor's Cup tournament.
Bengal: What is your family situation? Zamberlin: I am married and have 4 kids, two live with us now. Bengal: Where did you grow up? Zamberlin: I pretty much grew up in Tacoma, Washington. Bengal: Other than football, what is your favorite sport? Zamberlin: Baseball Bengal: As a child, what did you want to do when you 'grew up'? Zamberlin: I wanted to play professional baseball.
Audra Smith left an impressive track legacy at Pima High School, and she has created another one at Idaho State University. Smith, who also ran track at Central Arizona College, is a multi-event athlete for ISU and runs both heptathlons and pentathlons. Smith completed her master's degree in health education a couple of weeks ago.
Idaho State cross country opened their season on a hot Saturday morning at the centennial course against Southern Utah University in Pocatello, ID. The Bengals had two 2nd place finishers; Saheed Kahn for the men's team and Gemma Maini for the women's team.
Riverside, CA--Idaho State split a pair of five-game matches Saturday at the UC Riverside Tournament at the PE Gymnasium in Riverside, California. The Bengals knocked off tournament host UC Riverside 3-2 (26-30, 23-30, 30-26, 30-18, 15-12) before falling 3-2 (30-24, 29-31, 30-22, 21-30, 11-15) to Robert Morris.
