Chatterton did note that the length of parking time by the Rendezvous Complex would probably increase from two hours to four.
"Right now, parking at the Rendezvous is under utilized," said Chatterton.
While not sure of why this is occurring, Chatterton suggested that it might be because the parking there is not long enough. He stated that the Rendezvous parking would be addressed at the next board meeting in September.
Also in the plans for future parking endeavors is an increase in parking by Red Hill and Owen Red Field. Chatterton said that he believed this would occur by next summer.
All decisions on parking matters go through ISU's Parking Board, which Martin Hackworth is chairman of. The Parking Board consists of members of the student government, faculty senate, the Classified Employees Group (mostly staff people), who Chatterton says, "aren't on contract," and members of the Council of Professional Employees, who are salaried contract employees. The Parking Board meets monthly to discuss issues related to parking. They are the ones who make recommendations and approve what is done in regard to parking.
Chatterton encouraged anyone who has concerns, suggestions or complaints about the parking around ISU to voice these concerns on the Public Safety web site at HYPERLINK "http://www.isu.edu/pubsafe"www.isu.edu/pubsafe or to call his office at 282-2832. Chatterton insisted that he appreciated comments from people on how to improve parking.
