Bengals Take Eighth Place in the Montana State Invitational

Bozeman, MT--Idaho State women's cross country team took 8th place with a team score of 245 in the 3-mile race at the Montana State Invitational Saturday morning. The ISU men's team took 7th place with a team score of 171 in the 5-mile run. Gemma Maini led the Bengal squad and finished in the top ten.
Gemma Maini led the Bengal squad and took 10th place with a time of 17:35. Kerynn Davis and Haiden Siepert who finished a mere three seconds apart finishing 60th and 61st respectively. Davis finished with a time of 19:21 and Siepert finished with a time of 19:24. Other finishers for ISU were Candida Butler who ran the 3-mile race in 20:29 for a 79th finish. Butler was closely followed by Chelsea McEwen who finished with a time of 20:30 for an 80th finish. Holly Hansen took 84th and finished with a time of 20:39. April Jaynes ran a time of 21:58 for the Bengals to finish in the 95th spot. ISU finished with a team score of 245 for an 8th place finish out of 13 teams.
Saheed Khan led the men's team with a 22nd place finish among 118 runners with a time of 25:46. Other finishers for the men's team included John Ricardi who finished 33rd with a time of 26:12 in the 5-mile run. Taylor Hansen in 36th place finished with a time of 26:15. With a time of 26:23 Landon Teeter took 38th place. Brandon Teeter followed with a 50th place and a time of 26:42. Tysun Rickards finished 56th with a time of 27:07. Ryan Davis finished in 58th place for the Bengals with a time of 27:08. ISU finished with a team score of 171 for a 7th place finish out of 11 teams.
For the women Utah State finished 1st with 59 points. Coming in second was Montana with 73 points and Weber State came in third with 78 points. For the men Weber State took 1st with 29 points. Second place was claimed by Montana with 76 points and third place was taken by Utah State with 79 points.
Sariah Long of Weber State took first overall for the women with a time of 16:38 in the 3-mile run, while Mark Korir of Wyoming took 1st for the men with a time of 24:14 in the 5-mile run.
The Bengals next meet will be on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Bob Firman Invitational in Boise, Idaho.
