ISU Student Activities Board Chair Stuart Summers said he's excited for the show based on the variety of talent heard at the auditions. "There were tons of talent displayed at the auditions," Summers said. "Definitely everyone should be prepared for an awesome show."
Summers said that this year's show will be the largest performance out of the show's four-year history because of the sheer number of bands who tried-out. "We had a huge array of talent from students all over campus. We're just excited of it (the show) to come about and we're looking forward to an outstanding show.
One band who auditioned, Single Track, said they had no problem auditioning. They played their songs "I'm Not of Martyr" and "Point of View."
"They really liked it," Dave Southworth said.
Southworth's impression of the judges' favorability was confirmed when the band discovered that they would be playing the concert.
"It was obviously really exciting for us to hear about," Chad Smith. "We were confident, but there is always that element of doubt, so getting rid of that doubt made us feel good."
Singer Kip Buck said that hearing that there band got in when there were so many that tried out made him feel "confident about the future of our band."
"We'll definitely stick together and do other shows, but we've got our priorities on school and other aspects of life," Smith said.
The band is scheduled to perform at the Rendezvous Complex Nov. 29.
Prizes for winning bands at Guitars Unplugged include sweatshirts and other ISU paraphenelia, said Summers. But the top band will get the opportunity to perform at the SAB's Fright Night on Oct. 31 plus a guitar equipment package.
