There are many people on our campus that are more concerned with getting their MRS than they are with getting their BS. College is a great place to find a spouse and if you are a newly wedded, Congratulations! You are a beautiful couple. I wish you all the best.
Ladies, get started right now setting the standard that will last for your entire marriage. Young newly wedded women have a desire to set up house and become the perfect wife that cooks amazing meals, decorates the home and keeps everything spic and span. That is admirable, but it will be a problem in the future.
Now is the time to set up some guidelines that will serve you well, things like "When I cook dinner you clean the kitchen" and "I will take out the trash if you clean the toilet." Be fair with the housework and allow your new spouse some time with the scrubbing brushes and detergents.
There is something that happens to a man after he gets married, I call it the ball and chain affect. When a couple is dating a man has an interest in proving that the two of you are a couple, as such he will call often, do thoughtful things like cook breakfast and include you in most of his plans. After the rings get exchanged he will be bombarded with cute jokes from his buddies about being whipped and the old ball and chain. Because if this he will need to prove he is his own man, and he will start making plans that include you-his new blushing bride.
This can be a problem for a woman, most of us feel like the man we married is not the same boy we dated. Don't let his new behavior distress you, understand that it is a phase he is going through and allow him his free time with his buddies. When he breaks Friday night plans with you to hang with the guys, kiss him on the cheek before he leaves the house and make plans of your own.
If you are a smart wife, and I know you are, you will figure out the age old way of punishing him for his neglect.
Men, allow your wife some privacy. If she is in the bathroom grooming do not walk in to see what she is doing. You have an entire lifetime to discover she waxes her moustache and that her hair color comes from a bottle. Keep the romance alive; don't peek in on your new wife so see what she is doing, odds are pretty good she is doing something that you don't want to witness.
