Biting dogs, muggers and random thugs. Many runners and hikers can tell scary stories that would top most campfire legends. There's the shifty guy at the bike trail who looks like he's up to no good. And at the nearby forest preserve, some dog owners insist on letting their biting pups run off leash.
Dealing with danger is part of outdoor adventure. But it shouldn't keep enthusiasts at home. Especially when there are lightweight self-defense sprays that can easily be tucked into a pocket or gear bag.
The Signature pepper spray from PepperFace.com weights just 1.8 ounces and comes in a sleek aluminum tube. It includes a heat insert of Oleoresin Capsicum, a non-lethal spray for self-defense.
Each spray has a wrap-around safety feature to prevent an accidental squirt. It also has a straightforward release for a quick defense. The sleek tubes are simple but elegant enough to be packed in an evening bag or briefcase.
Made with aluminum, the Signature is available in Stunning Steel, Prevention Purple or a combination of purple and silver. Cost is $35, a test insert costs an additional $5. Available at PepperFace.com.
