Ski pioneer from Idaho inducted into Hall of Fame

A.W. "Woody " Anderson was recently inducted into the Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame during ceremonies at the Park City Utah Olympic Park; one of the region's most prestigious ski-related honors.
Anderson, owner/chairman of the Pomerelle Resort and long time Idahoan, was honored along with five other 2007 inductees. Anderson also served as a board member and later as president of the Idaho Travel Council.
The Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame annually commemorates in perpetuity individuals who have recorded outstanding achievements in the areas of skiing competition, skiing innovation, ski sport development and significant contributions to the overall promotion of skiing in the Intermountain Area (Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana) Priority is given to accomplishments and activities that resulted in significant long-term benefits to the Intermountain area over a long period of time.
A plaque featuring a photo of Woody and listing some of his accomplishments and endeavors now hangs in the Alf Engen Museum/Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center located at the Utah Olympic Park, Park City, Utah. (This is the building by the bobsled area and the 2002 Olympic ski jumps).
In 2003, Anderson was honored at the Salt Lake City Ski Affair with a Historical Achievement award in partnership with the University of Utah J. Willard Marriott Library Ski Archives. In 2004 Woody was inducted into the Intermountain Professional Ski Instructors of America PSIA-I Hall of Fame at a meeting held in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Other inductees during the September 20 event in the Class of 2007 included Ted Johnson- Utah (Snowbird founder); Pete Karns - Wyoming, (Olympic racer/Biathlon coach); Paul McCollister (deceased) - Wyoming (Jackson Hole founder); K. Smith (deceased) - Utah (Brighton Ski Resort); and Margo Walters McDonald - Utah (Olympic racer)
