The first goal of the game came on a goal from Sac State player Kim Kemper as she managed to score on ISU goalkeeper Maren Eves in the first half. ISU's leading scorer, Jana Boehler, was able to strike back for the Bengals as she scored just 2:48 minutes later. Boehler has six goals on the season and is second in the Big Sky for goals.
During the second half, and throughout the two overtimes each team struggled to score, although there was a total of 32 shots by both teams in that time period. ISU did have some opportunities in the overtimes. Kim Crosbie sent one over the bar on a corner form Annamarie Hofstetter. Jana Boehler was almost able to seal the deal as she rang a shot off of the goal post. Both goalkeepers played incredibly as Maren Eves recorded seven saves and Mandy Trojan recorded nine save for the Hornets.
The Bengals record is now 5-4-4. The good news is that ISU will return home for three straight games, the first of which will be on Thursday the 18th against Northern Arizona at 3:00 p.m. at Davis Field. ISU will turn around and face Northern Colorado on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Davis Field. All games are important and could give ISU the edge in the big sky. Playing at home will give ISU a needed advantage as they perform and seek to repeat as conference champions.
