The fall pledge class of Kappa Sigma Fraternity will be holding a service and date package auction Monday, Oct. 29, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Bengal Café of the PSUB. The event will include pledge brothers and members of Kappa Sigma Fraternity offering service packages. Optional "date" packages will also be available to winning bidders.

Attendance at the event is free, open to all and will include both live and silent auctions.

According to Nick Ogami, president of the fall pledge class, service packages will include yard work, general maintenance, and house cleaning to be performed by individual members of the pledge class and by regular members of the Fraternity.

Ogami also said that the pledge class has gathered prizes including from free laser tag and miniature golf, skating passes at Deleta Skating Rink and a free limo ride for an evening. The date packages will also include dinner for two at various area restaurants such as Texas Roadhouse and Applebee's.

Those with the winning bids for the date packages will also have the option to be accompanied by one of the pledge class or Fraternity members when using the packages.

"It should be a great time for all involved," Ogami said. "It gives our pledge class an opportunity to raise funds and accomplish one of the requirements of pledging, while also offering fun and valuable prizes for winning bidders."

According to Larry Chamberlain, one of two pledge educators for the fall pledge class, the class must complete several requirements before they are eligible for initiation into the Fraternity. These include fundraising (which this event will fulfill), community service and holding an appropriate and supervised social event.
