• ISU will be hosting the Twentieth Annual Idaho Conference on Health Care Wednesday, Oct 24 - Friday, Oct. 26, at the ISU PSUB. The title of this year's conference is "The Changing Face of Health Care." The all day event is free to all ISU students, faculty and staff, but all attendees must pre-register by contacting the Division of Continuing Education and Conference Services at 282-3155 or by email at extendedlearning@isu.edu. For information about the conference, please visit the Kasiska College of Health Professions' web site.
• The ISU Wellness Center will be holding its annual "Wear Your Costume" Fun Run/Walk Saturday, Oct. 27, from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. The event will mark the end of the Twentieth Annual Idaho Conference on Health Care. Registration is free to the first 10 ISU students with their donation of two or more cans or boxes of non-perishable food items. All others will receive $5 of their registration with the same donation of 2 or more items. The ISU club/organization, office/department or residence hall floor with the most participants will win a free lunch (limited to 20 people). Prizes will also be awarded for the best costumes.
• Auditions for acting parts for the Beginning Directing Class will be held on Friday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Stephens Performing Arts Center, room 234. Everyone is welcome! Please prepare two thirty-second contrasting monologues, one comic or absurd and the other dramatic. • Start planning now to attend the second annual "Dead Writers Night" in the Canoe Room of the ISU PSUB. Prepare your open-microphone reading of your favorite dead author or just come and enjoy the company. From Edgar Allen Poe to Faulker, what dead writer will you be? Costumes are optional. Hot drinks and treats will be provided. Admission is $3. For more information contact Matthew English at engelmat2@isu.edu•
• The Academy Award winning film "Pan's Labyrinth" will be shown Monday, Oct. 29, and Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. in the PSUB Bengal Theater. The film follows a young girl during the Spanish Civil War and her relationship with the fantastic world revealed to her by a mischievous faun. The film, directed by Guillermo del Torro, won three Academy Awards for best cinematography, best art direction and best makeup. This film is not a children's movieand is rated R.
