The ISU Student Health Center has welcomed Dr. Ronald Solbrig to their team this year. Although it is his first year at the clinic, he already feels very much at home there.

Solbrig is an Idaho native, born and raised in Idaho Falls. After graduating with his medical degree from the University of Washington, he did his residency is Casper, Wyo. and then moved to Pocatello. He has been in Pocatello for the past 14 years working in the emergency room at the Portneuf Medical Center, doing private practice and working as an associate professor at the residency program at Family Practice Medicine.

Solbrig enjoys the small town feel of Pocatello and all the benefits that come with it. He takes advantage of the nearby bike and cross-country ski trails and enjoys a visit to Pebble Creek on a Sunday morning when he can have the hill to himself.

Taking the job at the center was a pleasant change of pace for Solbrig and he said that he has so far really enjoyed working with the student population

"The staff is wonderful," Solbrig said. "The students are fun to be around. I really enjoy their energy. They have their whole lives ahead of them."

Solbrig said he takes a special interest in working with college students, because he believes it is such an important time in their lives

"Once (students) are done with education, they can't go back and re-do it," Solbrig said. His major goal is to "keep students physically and mentally healthy so they can do what they need to do intellectually."

Solbrig emphasized mostly small changes, such as keeping a regular sleep, eating and exercise schedule. Solbrig believes these small things can go a long way to improving student health and student life-management.
