Training health care professionals and emergency responders on how to handle sudden large-scale catastrophes such as natural disasters, bioterrorism attacks, and outbreaks of infectious diseases has recently taken on a new life. For the past two years, as part of the Idaho Bio-terrorism Awareness and Preparedness Program (IBAPP), Dr.
ISU has attempted to add a Chinese program to their language department in the past, but each time failed due to lack of student interest. This time, however, the program has generated enough interest to grow beyond the two beginning-level Mandarin Chinese classes that became available to ISU students last year, and will be offering an intermediate level class for the spring 2008 semester.
In high school it was the principal or vice principal that was responsible for dealing with students who violated school policies. At ISU, however, it is the Student Affairs Office that undertakes the task of dealing with students that violate the Universities Code of Conduct.

On 11/03/07 at approximately 9:39 p.m. at Redfield, Public Safety took a report of a theft. It was discovered the theft took place off campus at the Carmike 10 Theater, and the victim was advised to contact the Chubbuck Police. On 11/05/07 at approximately 9:35 a.
GIS Day Nov. 14 ISU will celebrate GIS Day with an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wed., Nov. 14 in the Wood River and Little Wood River Rooms in the PSUB. GIS Day is a global event aimed at teaching millions of people how they can use geography in their everyday lives.
Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honors society at ISU, will be presenting the first annual Patty McDermott Lecture on Thurs., Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wood River Room of the Pond Student Union Building. Frederick A. O. Schwarz, Jr. will be presenting a lecture based on his recently released book entitled Unchecked and Unbalanced: Presidential Power in a Time of Terror.
