A light show flashed throughout the darkened ballroom and there was a hazy effect given off by the smoke machines. The Party featured local area disc jockeys and Guitar Hero was set up for guests to enjoy. A love sack room was set up and refreshments were available.
Both the men and women rugby clubs put together the idea for this fundraising event. The rugby clubs are not funded by ISU, so they have to raise funds on their own. The funds raised will be used to cover travel costs for away games.
The ISU men's rugby club has been a part of ISU traditions longer than one might think. A men's rugby club was created in 1981, before there was a conference in the United States. The original club folded after the co-organizers graduated.
With another group of interested students, the ISU men's rugby club was reinstated in 1996 and became a charter member of the Pacific Collegiate Conference. The ISU women's rugby club, created in 2001, and is still relatively new to ISU.
The rugby season has started for the men's club who traveled to Nevada already. While their game didn't go as well as planned, they hope to see some great games in their future.
Since the rugby clubs began in the recent history of ISU, students have a chance to be a part of history in the making by supporting them or joining them. New members are always welcome. Tentative schedules of the games will be posted around the ISU campus.
