Before I was a college student, I watched movies about college students. Almost every college movie has a party scene in which people are doing keg stands and dancing at a sorority or fraternity house. When I was a teenager and thinking about going to college, the biggest question on my mind was, "When you do a keg stand, does the beer come out of your nose?"

Now I am an adult woman who has more important things to worry bout than keg stands. But you might be a young man who has not yet learned how many shots of Jager are too many shots of Jager. If you are over 21 and you desire to know what it feels like to do a keg stand, drink shots and dance the night away with a pretty girl, then I support your decision to do so.

Party on dude! But when you are done partying, call a cab.

Men between the ages of 16-25 pay the highest auto insurance premiums because insurance companies have confidence that young men are capable of driving their cars right into ditches.

They think young men drive as though they are invincible. They base this belief on the fact that more young men die in car accidents every year than young women.

While I was researching this article, I found many theories as to why young men die more often. The common thread is that young men drive more recklessly, they are less likely to wear their seat belts and they are more likely to knock back a few beers before getting behind the wheel.

The statistics for the 2005 year show that 16,885 people were killed in alcohol related car accidents and 254,000 were injured. This means that one person dies every 31 minutes because of their decision to drink and drive. It means that every two minutes, someone gets injured.

During January 2007, my cousin Jeff left a coffee cup at my house that says, "I have used up all of my sick days so I am calling in dead." The irony behind the cup is that he had worked for my husband for four years and on Jan. 20, 2007, he made the fatal error of getting into a vehicle with a person who was over the legal limit.

Death by drunk driving has affected my life. Do not let it affect your life. When you are finished partying like a rock star, call a sober driver.
