In this tournament, however, the battleships will be represented by canoes floating in the swimming pool at Reed Gymnasium. Teams of four will work together to sink opponent canoes, hoping to be the last canoe floating.
The first ever ISU Battleship Tournament will begin Tuesday, Feb. 19. The best out of three games throughout the week will win. While canoes will be provided, each team is required to bring their own sinking devices such as buckets, sponges and spray bottles.
Each team must pay a $35 activity fee that is required of any intramural sport. These costs cover regular season games, tournament entry, equipment, officials and scorekeepers. Funds for the ISU Intramurals are also provided by a small amount of student tuition, so students should take advantage of what they have already paid for.
ISU Intramurals offer opportunities for students to release stress, try new things and socialize; they also work around the busy schedules that are a large part of student life.
If sinking canoes is not on your to-do list, spectators are always welcome at Intramural events. The schedule, once determined, will be posted on the bulletin board in the Campus Recreation Office located in Reed Gymnasium, or check out the swimming pool at Reed Gymnasium on Feb. 19. For more information on this or any other activity contact Shelby Williams at 282-3516.
