Senior forward Andrew Strait led Montana (13-14, 7-7) with a game-high 22 points, 10 rebounds and shot seven-for-12 from the field as the Grizzles created a three-way tie for fourth place in the Big Sky with their win. Jordan Hasquet had a productive night with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists, while shooting 50 percent from the field in 41 minutes.
Idaho State (10-17, 7-7), led by Amorrow Morgan's 14 points and five assists, have two games remaining on the road to keep them in the Big Sky tournament. Donnie Carson finished with 13 points for ISU.
There was skepticism at the end of regulation whether Montana should have been given a technical foul for a timeout called by Jordan Hasquet when the Grizzlies did not have any left. Following a Matt Stucki miss, Hasquet rebounded the ball and motioned for a timeout. The referee ruled that the timeout was not recognized until the horn had sounded for the end of the game.
Idaho State held the Grizzlies to just 36.4 percent shooting in the second half after Montana went off for 56.5 percent in the first half.
One of the Bengals' biggest struggles was 3-point shooting as they were held to just 23.5 percent (4-17) from behind the arc.
Seniors Logan Kinghorn and coach O'Brien's son Cory O'Brien were recognized before tip-off, because they played their last regular season home game.
