Gibson: San Diego, California

Bengal: How long have you coached soccer?

Gibson: It has been 19 years.

Bengal: How did you get into coaching?

Gibson: I always loved it. I loved teaching and I always thought that I would be a coach. There was a coaching job that opened up at a little high school, I applied and it all started from there.

Bengal: What brought you to ISU?

Gibson: I was in search of a head coaching position; from the second that I saw the job on the Big Sky web site and I had a crazy feeling that this was the job for me.

Bengal: How is your team preparing for the 2008 fall season?

Gibson: Just working really hard on their strength, conditioning, speed and agility. That is our main focus right now. We are developing their bodies to withstand the competitiveness of the short season that we play. Bengal: What is the focus on training during the spring tournaments?

Gibson: Really, just individual player development.

Bengal: What is one of your most memorable moments as a coach at ISU?

Gibson: Winning the Big Sky championship by beating Sacramento State in penalty kicks at home. Bengal: What is your most memorable moment in your soccer career?

Gibson: I scored the winning goal for the National Championship in club. I was playing for the semi-pro team, Sacramento Storm.

Bengal: Tell me about your experiences when you played for the Japan team.

Gibson: That whole three years was awesome. Just learning a different culture and being completely immersed in it. I was able to learn the language.
